In 1984, the company, called Delta Petrol, which had been active in floating storage business in petroleum sector, founded a Petroleum Storage Terminal in Dortyol town of the Hatay city, Turkey.
In mid 1990’s, Delta Group built one of the largest LPG storage terminals (65,000 cbm) of the Mediterranean region and operated the distribution business of bulk and bottled LPG in Turkey. During this time, the Group also owned and operated one of the largest LPG semi-trailer fleets of the region with over 200 trailers. The LPG business was later sold to BP and Mobil Joint Venture.
In the year 2000, Delta Group has initiated "Poti Star" floating storage project in the port of Poti in Georgia. Subsequently, Poti bulk liquid storage terminal (120,000 cbm) was built for 35 million USD with the financing from EBRD (European Bank for Reconstruction and Development) and BSTDB (Black Sea Trade and Development Bank). The Poti terminal was sold to a Georgian local oil supply and logistics Group in 2011.
In 2007, the capacity of the Dortyol Oil Storage Terminal was doubled and reached 650,000 cbm. This expansion project was financed by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a World Bank Group organization.
In 2012, Delta Petrol and Rubis Terminal of France, part of Rubis Group, joined forces to form Delta Rubis, the Mediterranean’s leading independent petroleum storage company.
In 2015, Delta Rubis successfully completed its investment 2.3 kilometers long new jetty, which is one of its primary targets, and stareted jetty service. In addition to transit storage, it has expanded its service range by providing bunker services.
In 2017 Rubis Terminal has fully acquired all shares from its previous partner Delta, and operated as a sole owner of the newly named Rubis Terminal Petrol in Turkey. Taking full control will provide Rubis with the potential maximise commercial operations.
In 2022 Rubis Terminal Petrol Ticaret ve Sanayi A.Ş. has been renamed GLOBAL TERMİNAL HİZMETLERİ A.Ş, with brand name Global Terminal Services - GTS will continue to operate with the same organizational culture structure with more than 30 years of its experienced team in Turkey.
The progressive sophistication of oil products and increased volatility in the global oil markets requires flexible value added and diverse logistics services in global markets. Within this context, Global Terminal Services - GTS with it's differentiated service capacity will become a worldwide logistics center in the growing Mediterranean and nearby regional hub.
Global Terminal Services - GTS will also pursue opportunities within its regional focus to grow it's terminal service offering capacity and capability while and increasing it's geographical coverage.
